Catatan Seorang Demonstran merupakan buku non-fiksi yang berisi catatan kejadian milik Soe Hok Gie (1942 – 1969), seorang aktivis yang hidup di era orde lama. Sosok Gie diceritakan sebagai seorang pemuda yang berprofesi sebagai mahasiswa. Gie memiliki sifat tegas, berani dan jujur, namun terdapat pula sisi melankolis dan humanis selayaknya pemuda pada umumnya. Peranacngan ini mengadopsi buku Catatan Seorang Demonstran ke dalam bentuk novel grafis yang lebih menarik dan mudah tersampaikan dibandingkan buku tekstual, hal ini bertujuan agar pembaca mampu meneladani figure Soe Hok Gie dalam hal nasionalisme dan semangat kepemudaan. Model perancangan yang digunakan adalah model perancangan prosedural, yaitu menggunakan langkah-langkah yang berurutan, terstruktur dan logis dalam menghasilkan produk. Sistematika perancangan ini merujuk pada sistematika Bruce Acher. Target audience adalah pembaca mahasiswa dengan rentang usia 18 sampai 24 tahun. Data yang dipakai sebagai acuan berupa data-data yang bersumber dari kepustakaan dan data lapangan. Hasil perancangan ini adalah novel grafis dengan genre graphic memoir berjudul “Memento Mori”. Naskah cerita berupa kata-kata yang dikutip dari naskah Catatan Seorang Demonstran disertai ilustrasi digital bergaya ekspresionis. Novel grafis ini dibagi menjadi enam chapter untuk memudahkan pembagian jalan cerita. Untuk perancangan berikutnya, disarankan untuk mencari banyak sumber data serta referensi yang relevan untuk mendukung perancangan berikutnya menjadi lebih baik lagi.

Catatan Seorang Demonstran (The Diary of a Demonstrator) is a non-fiction book that contains daily activity and experiences belonging of Soe Hok Gie (1942 – 1969), an activist who lived in period of Orde Lama . The figure of Gie is a young man who worked as a college student. Gie having the nature of strict, brave and honest but there is also melancholy side and humanists which is common in young people. This design adopted a Diary of a Demonstrator into the form of a novel graphic which is more interesting and easily delivered than textual. This graphic novel is meant to reflect the reader how capable of figure Soe Hok Gie in terms of nationalism and the spirit of youth. Design model used is the model procedural perspective, design that’s using successive steps, structured and logical in producing a product. Design systematic is based on systematic Bruce Acher. The target audience is the reader students with the age range of the 18 to 24 years old. Data which used as preference sourced from from available literature and field data. The result of this design is graphic novel, a graphic memoir by genre titled “Memento Mori”. The main story quoted directly from a manuscript of the Diary of a Demonstrator accompanied digital illustration drawn in expressionist style. Graphic novel is divided into six chapters to ease road division story. For the further development design, it is suggested to seek more relevant sources and reference data to support subsequent design become better.
